Caring for your mount

  1. While no fireplace looks complete without a massive set of antlers above them, heat can damage your mount over time. It is not recommended to hang your mount above or neat any heat source such as a fireplace or heat pump.
  2. Sunlight can also cause damage with fading over time. Avoid hanging your mount in direct sunlight.
  3. To clean your mount, lightly dust with a feather duster every month or so, working with the natural hair pattern, not against. You can also use a can of compressed air if necessary.
  4. To keep the eyes looking ‘glassy’ use a small amount of window cleaner on a paper towel to rub clean, or an ear bud/Q-tip.
  5. Lastly, to keep the antlers from looking chalky, use an oil soap and water, and a toothbrush for getting any dirt out around the burs. If you want to add a bit of luster back to the antlers, spray a thin coat of clear gloss paint over them, being sure not to get any on the mount itself by covering it (the fur) with a towel first.
