What you need to know…

Whether it’s a Boar, Deer or Bird, it is extremely important to get the skin or bird as cold as possible as soon as possible once deceased. This is to prevent bacteria from forming and destroying the skin and hair follicles/feathers.

There are plenty of youtube clips showing you how to cape either a boar or deer, but if you are hesitant to give it a go, simply cut around the girth of the animal behind the front legs and peel the skin up off the animal to its neck (see diagram below). You can then cut through the neck joint and freeze the entire head with antlers on (in a thick black plastic bag, not paper) and with the skin still attached to the head.

Ring me and organise a date to either drop it off or for me to pick it up from you, and I’ll take care of the rest!

For birds, just wrap them up in baking paper and put in a sandwich zip-lock bag. Place it in your freezer in a container to keep it safe.
